Mophine.tv HTPC software on the OSD:Update

In a recent exciting update on the mailing list, Matthias Hardt outlines the progress they've made in getting directfb, and the disko framework running on the Neuros OSD. Check out morphine.tv to see what their software is capable of.

As you all know, Neuros is an open hardware manufacturer and we believe that our hardware becomes more valuable to everyone by being open. That's why we're supporting multiple software efforts on our hardware and we hope that we will learn from all the ongoing projects as well as to ultimately collaborate as much as we can to bring users the best of all worlds. In the meantime, you, as an OSD buyer get choices, and of course that extends to commercial entities too. If you are a software developer or a content provider looking to port your application or service to a silent, small, inexpensive set-top box, then please contact us. We're working to provide everything necessary to support those efforts.

How does the progress of

How does the progress of this compare to that of the Electronic Programming Guide (for which I have been waiting patiently).

well, this is an effort out

well, this is an effort out of Germany that really has no effect on our internal efforts. I'm waiting for EPG myself, but unfortunately, it got pushed back in the schedule. We have been in discussion with Tribune Media Services though and it appears that there may be an opportunity for us to partner with Schedules Direct for the EPG. In addition, MattJ is currently working on the Neuros.tv server which will allow connections to OSD units and thus facilitate easier off device EPG integration (ie tv.yahoo.com etc). I realize this is not the most satisfactory answer, but we are working on it.
