A New Partnership with DVRupgrade and Neuros

Those of you that follow Neuros know about our longstanding relationship with DVRupgrade, which has even included co-sponsoring some bounties with the Neuros LINK, we've begun to forge an even tighter relationship. As I said nearly 18 months ago, I believe that open electronics will follow the path of PCs in many ways, and one of those important ways will be with value added resellers. The concept of openness goes hand in hand with customization. Obviously much of that customization can be done easily by users themselves with simple plug ins and third party apps. But, it's clear there's also a place for more complicated customization that many users will be looking for the convenience of a reseller for.

In the nascent field of open electronics, there are few manufacturers, let alone the infrastructure of resellers, but Neuros happens to have the good fortune of being within a few miles of one of the world's few "electronics value added resellers." or eVARs Expanding on that luck is something we've been working on for years, and I'm proud to announce it's starting to bear fruit. So what does it mean to be an eVAR? and more importantly what does it bring to Neuros customers?

The answers to these questions are easy to understand simply by looking at DVRupgrade's history. By virtue of TiVo's more friendly position for customization, it enabled DVRupgrade to be born and grow over these many years. DVRupgrade has been able to offer customization options for TiVos that TiVo themselves couldn't, hard drive upgrades, software that allowed additional hard drives to be installed, and beyond. It's only natural for Neuros to take this one step further, we don't just tolerate customization, we encourage it and want to do everything we can to foster it. When the most popular LINK forum topic is about adding a HDD to the LINK it doesn't take a genius to see that a HDD upgrade is something we should offer. Given how open the LINK is, the list of expansion capabilities is virtually endless, and very quickly will outstrip Neuros' internal ability to do justice to those customizations (probably already has). Luckily, the solution is just as obvious as the problem and when you have the good fortune to be proximate to someone already in that business... well sometimes fate shines.

Our new deeper relationship with DVRupgrade means more than some harddrive kits, it means bringing their customization, customer service and fulfillment expertise to bear on the Neuros operation. We have already begun to migrate our store to DVRupgrade as some recent buyers have undoubtedly noticed, and their customer service team, long familiar to many community members have taken on a more official role in supporting Neuros customers. It goes without saying that none of this means that anyone at Neuros will be any less accessible than they have been in the past. We will still be here in the same capacity as always, able to answer questions and discuss all matter of Neuros issues, but now with the ability to really focus on the things that our customers want us to focus on, building and improving the base product that only we, as the manufacturer can. The only difference being that we are now aided by one of the worlds pioneers in reselling open electronics.
