Here's the bulk of today's meeting on IRC: swoag boards have been manufactured but currently on hold due to two issues, swoag 1. some memory card (CF/MMC/SD) will cause the system reboot. swoag 2. the IR blaster does not work stably yet. swoag We believe 1 is due to a power supply surge when plugging in the media card, JoeBorn what's the ETA on fixing those? swoag HW fix (either use a larger conductor, or separate the power path) is being investigated now, swoag we are expecting to release boards mid next week. swoag Blaster, we believe it is mainly a fw issue, which will be fixed over the weekend. swoag on the FW side, now we have a much stable AVI/ASF/MP4 constructor, swoag better media card support and GUI flow etc, swoag a new release is planned in about 1 week or so, swoag most likely new release will be based on new hardware, which has 64MB SDRAM and 16MB flash, swoag for the next few releases, we may be able to back port support for 32/8MB board, swoag but eventually we'll give that up. swoag that is about it. JoeBorn 32/8MB is not the Gamma boards, right? JoeBorn those are just the dev boards, right? swoag correct. JoeBorn how long can you record for now? swoag upto the limit of memory card or file system (2GB) limit. swoag for MP4, it is only upto to 25minutes for now, but it will be longer than that. swoag For those who are interested to know, MP4 limit is due to a design defficiency in current file constructor, swoag MP4 file format was not really designed for streaming support, thus in order to support trick play, swoag a index table is needed at the very beginning of the file, swoag the size of the index table determines the length of the recording. JoeBorn other major known issues are the USB support and what else? swoag ah, major known issues, swoag 1. usb host support is broken in 2.6.15 swoag 2. Video frame tearing when recording, you'll notice a line-burst (don't have the right word for this) every once a while swoag during recording. swoag 3. CF card hotplug support, currently it works only if you have it plugged before powering the system on swoag 4. SD card performance, currently SD card writing is not fast enough swoag to catch up with A/V recording even at QVGA and low audio bitrate.
