Weve recently been in discussions with some folks from Cadenux (http://www.cadenux.com) about porting uClinux and the GNU toolchain, etc to the recorder. The folks there have done this many times and its clearly doable, its just a question of time and money as well as the limitations of the hardware itself (to do other things besides just a login prompt).
