I personally don't have a whole lot of need for the OSD to play music (I use iTunes and the airport wireless streaming thing.) Nonetheless, this functionality is something that is advertised on the side of the OSD box and all over the OSD main page. It really isn't so much of a cool feature as it is a necessity.
That being said - I'm really very interested in using the OSD as a "slingbox." I can browse youtube, look at pictures, and all the rest on my PC. What I can't do is wirelessly stream TV to my laptop when I'm somewhere else in the house. If you guys could implement a non-proprietary means of streaming live video from the OSD... well that would be just awesome :-)
Pushing my own selfish wants here. In true Chicago fashion, i would like to vote twice for the EPG.
I am willing to bet my favorite horned helmet that many folks will embrace the thought of an EPG w/DVR capabilities. I haven't found that the 'digital VCR' resonates as an intriguing feature.
Throw in Freevo (ability to pause/rewind live TV) and I think people will come out of the wood work for it.
Maybe i misread the info about the very intresting OSD-device, but what i missed was a feature to schedule/program recordings. I read something about the blaster, but that just didn't sound as if that was a very friendly way of scheduling recordings. And what about the features mentioned in the review at http://linuxlookup.com/review/neuros_osd_review ? Are most of those tackled? Maybe have the reviewer do a follow-up review?
I'm really looking forward to the EPG. I had a nightmare setting up mythtv (which requires a powerful pc too) and refuse to pay a monthly fee for tivo. An EPG on the osd would be a great solution!
Currently you can set manual recording schedules: input a date, a time, and a channel. The OSD will change to that channel and start recording at the time you asked for.
If you want an easy way to schedule TV programmes, then what you want to vote for is the Electronic Programme Guide item, which will let you browse a TV guide for the next week or so, and allow you to say "record this show" and it will automatically setup the recording to start at the right time and channel.
As for linuxlookup, some issues have been addresses, some are planned.
Doing a follow up review is they choice, and if you want to see that, it's your rights as reader to ask them for it :)

Songbird
My OSD's in the mail, but I'm wondering, if a better audio player is needed, can the device just run Songbird as a solution?
Features: what's needed and what I'd personally like to see
